Connoisseurship Roadshow

Connoisseurship Roadshow is an independent longform editorial publication exploring craftsmanship, taste, ritual, expertise and refinement across categories and regions.

The project exists at the intersection of travel journalism, cultural reporting, documentary storytelling and modern connoisseurship. Unlike category-specific publications focused solely on cigars, wine, cannabis, food or art independently, Connoisseurship Roadshow approaches connoisseurship itself as the unifying subject.

We examine what expertise looks like, how craftsmanship manifests across industries, why people devote themselves to mastery and how place, ritual and culture shape experiences of quality.

The Roadshow

The project is fundamentally rooted in movement — in regional immersion, travel, field reporting, temporary cultural embedding and experiential journalism. Each issue is geographically grounded and shaped by firsthand experience. Rather than producing detached commentary, the publication physically goes to where connoisseurship lives.

Editorial Philosophy

The publication intentionally rejects influencer culture, superficial luxury aesthetics and algorithm-optimized publishing. Instead, it prioritizes depth, storytelling, atmosphere, craft, process, people, regional identity and immersive reporting.

The project is less interested in “What is expensive?” and more interested in “What represents mastery?”

Rob Sanchez

Publisher · Las Vegas, NV

Rob Sanchez is the kind of person who notices things. The blends and highlights of a well-painted miniature. The moment a skill toy stops being a trick and becomes a conversation with physics. He’s spent a lifetime moving through music, sci-fi, comics, cannabis, BBQ and tabletop gaming with the same quiet conviction: that craft deserves witnesses, and that knowing what you love makes every choice a little sharper. That instinct became Connoisseurship Roadshow — a place to slow down and look closely at the people who make things worth looking at. A Certified Ganjier, BBQ Judge, Agile Coach, Dad, Miniature Gamer and Relentless Reader, Rob also hosts the Apt 113 podcast and writes for Fat Nugs Magazine and Beard Bros Media.

Matt Jerome

Canadian Correspondent · Canada

Son of a journalist, he spent his early years moving through Europe — France, Russia, the Netherlands — learning that wherever people sit down together, culture arrives first. That instinct for paying close attention followed him all the way home. Today he’s Canada’s first fully certified Ganjier, a speaker and judge at cannabis competitions worldwide and the founder of Meristem Cannabis Consulting. He collects Irish whisky with the same disciplined devotion he brings to cannabis. For Matt, connoisseurship is just curiosity with patience behind it — and the deeper you go, the more you realize there is left to learn.
